I was asked to knit this table lamp in Shetland wool in the old traditional 'birds eye' Shetland Fine Lace pattern. It was a tricky commission as this pattern has to be purl a lace on every 2nd row to keep the important garter stitch texture to the lace! The stitches at the ends of my needles need to be transferred back and forth so edges continue in pattern in the round on 3 needles. It would be unsightly to have a seem up both sides of the lamp especially when lit as it shows every thread/stitch! Getting on so much better with these now I use the crochet hook to insert the beads as I go along, no more counting out all the beads to be strung on before starting to knit.
